Why are dry dates boiled in milk? Chuara (dry dates, kharik in Marathi) simmered in milk is a classic winter-strength nuskha, traditionally given to growing children and anyone recovering their appetite. These jumbo khajoor are also soaked overnight and eaten in the morning, ground into laddoos with gond and ghee, and added to sonth chutney for chaat. Naturally sweet, no added sugar.
